Many roads have been constructed during the present government. Roads have also been made in remote areas of the country, which has benefited a lot from the people of those areas. But the question is how long the roads are built after the construction.
A few days ago, we could not convince a rickshaw puller to go to Nazirpur Bazar from Sukla of Netrokona, Durgapur. Because, according to them, the condition of the road is very cruel. An autorickshaw driver could convince many difficulties. Going to the auto-rickshaw, I saw the road was really bad: the violent, filled with Khanakhand. He said, one of the major reasons for this misery of the road is the overloaded truck movement. On this road, more than 30 tons of sand is transported to each truck. Many such trucks operate every day.
The same figure was found on the road from Shyamganj to Susang Durgapur, east of the Netrokona district. For more than four years this regional road is ineligible for movement. The work of promoting it on the national highway has started recently. The cost of constructing this road for 36.35 kilometers has been estimated at Tk 316 crore. Local people are complaining that low-level construction materials are being used to build the road. In the protest they also made human chain. More damning is the fact that before the end of the construction of the road, the movement of sand and stone trucks of Someswari river of Durgapur has begun.
Talk to a sub-divisional engineer of Roads and Highways Department (Sowz) in Netrokona. He said, even after the completion of road construction, the road will not survive when the sand trucks weighing 30 tonnes weighing. I asked, why they are not complaining. Replying to the District Deputy Commissioner's office, District Development Co-ordination meeting was held every month. There they have written four times in writing, but they did not work.
