The 22-day ban on hilsa is being lifted on Sunday night. In the last 20 days, fishermen were fined for jail term and 144 jails were imposed on fines during the ban. The taskforce carried out 70 kilometers of Padma and Meghna rivers.
District Fisheries Officer Asadul Bad said, till Friday, the district task force jointly arrested 148 fishermen and carried out 148 operations. In the meantime, the mobile court sentenced 107 people to one year, 12 for one month, three for 15 days, and seven for 10 days. The remaining 15 jails were recovered from 67 thousand taka.
Asadul Bal said seven thousand 357 tonnes of hilsa, 18 lakh 526 thousand meter current net and 41 boats were seized along with fishermen fined.
