The Road Transport Workers Federation has called for a 48-hour transport strike across the country from six in the morning to six in the morning on Sunday, demanding 8-point demand for amendment of some sections of the Road Transport Act. Experts on road safety said that the provision of punishment to stop the long-awaited anarchy in the transport sector is not enough. The law of good and bad is not agreeable to the laws of transport and workers.

General Secretary of Bangladesh Road Transport Workers Federation Osman Ali said in the first light, the government was given time to accept the demands till 26 October. They gave a memorandum to the Road Transport and Stimmu. But the government did not take any action. Workers will perform the strike (strike) from six in the morning on Sunday, up to six in the morning for 48 hours. During this time, buses, trucks, covered vans, lorries and in some cases will also stop the auto-rickshaw movement. He also said that ordinary workers will not prevent anyone on the street when they drive vehicles.

Under the new law, the guilty driver has a maximum sentence of 5 years in jail, in relation to the crime in road accidents. Apart from this, there are provisions to take action according to the Criminal Procedure Code. In that case, the death penalty in the accident case proved to be the highest punishment, if the execution was proved.

Bangladesh Road Transport Workers Federation organized a rally in front of the National Press Club on Saturday. The leaders said that many sections of the new Road Transport Act are against the workers' interest. Under this Act, the road accident has been linked to the incompetent section by considering it as an offense. General Secretary Osman Ali, Vice-Chancellor Chadekur Rahman, Abdur Rahim and others spoke in the rally.

Earlier, on August 7, the Bangladesh Trade Transport Workers-Owner Oikya Parishad announced the shutdown of all types of commodities in Dhaka division for indefinitely. Later, after discussions with the Home Minister, the council withdrew the ceasefire.

Former caretaker government adviser Hossain Zillur Rahman commented that the transport workers are trying to claim the demand of being held hostage by the hostage. He said in the first light, the workers are demanding this, including amending the law, to stay above the accountability. The government should not be sympathetic to any such claim.
